Five years ago, I looked around Tier Pediatrics, and the silence was deafening. The walls were freshly painted and disinfected, shining brightly at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. And that was about all we had to look at.
There were no patients. No chatter. Just the hum of the air purifier and the fog on our masks behind clear acrylic barriers. The waiting room sat completely still while the world outside remained uncertain. We spent those early days mailing out insurance claims one by one, hoping each envelope would bring us a little closer to stability.
Then came the hard part—starting over.
We faced a full staff turnover and had to rebuild our billing system from the ground up. There were countless twelve-hour days and late nights spent rethinking every process. We needed people who believed in what this place could become. We found one of our best in Madi Lyford, our first Physician Assistant, who helped turn those quiet years back into motion. She was instrumental in getting us moving again.
And somewhere along the way, the silence finally broke.
The phones started ringing again. Families returned. The walls that once watched us wait now echo with laughter, crying, and the everyday sounds of a thriving pediatric practice.
Today, Tier Pediatrics isn’t just a clinic—it’s a place where the next generation of healthcare begins. We’ve become a teaching site, with students from Marywood, King’s, and LeMoyne training here. They learn firsthand what community medicine and compassionate care look like in real life. They see resilience in action.
What began as watching paint dry has grown into a living, breathing practice. It is proof that even after the stillest moments, growth always returns—one new hire, one insurance claim, one student, and, most importantly, one patient at a time.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to many more years of serving our community!
